Hello WHC families,
This week and next, October 23 – Nov 3 – Practices are closed to parent viewing. They will reopen for parent viewing on Nov 5th. Please remember to stay in the viewing rooms, so parents and athletes have adequate space on the tumbling strip to practice.
Themed Practices: Reminder that your last practice this week will be Halloween themed (Thursday for Charisma & Envy, and Sunday for the rest of the teams). Come dressed in your favourite costume! Please remember that you will either need to ensure the costume is safe to wear during practice, or bring an extra set of gym clothes that you can quickly change into.
Halloween: Practices on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 are CANCELLED for Halloween. Trick or Treat!
Sunday, November 12: If you are going to be missing practices on Sunday, November 12 due it being a long weekend, please send an email to email@example.com ASAP. Coaches will tally the planned absences and make a decision on a case-by-case basis if they will be holding practices or not. As of now, practices are a-go unless you hear otherwise from your coach.
Monday, November 13: Practice for Sr. LOVE are still on as regularly scheduled from 8-9:30pm
Season 10 fun: Check out our latest Instagram post (Account: west_halifax_cheer)! We’ve taken a little peak at 9 years of West Hali uniforms, and the transformation has been epic!! The infamous Candy Corn color scheme (yellow, orange, white), to Tiger Print (orange, black, silver), to a more classic and crisp look (mainly black, gunmetal grey, and a touch of orange). Can you guess what Season 10’s WHC uniforms will transform into? Once we get 200 likes on the Instagram post, we will announce our uniform reveal date!!!
Statements/Invoices: Several people have emailed with questions regarding the statements. A few common questions:
- Where is my October payment?
o Answer: Since October is not over, no payments from October will be on the invoices. This is because we send the income for the month to the accountant at the end of the month. We have a record of your payment, but it is not reflected in the billing software until it’s updated by the accountant at the end of each month. This will always be the case that we are one month behind. We thank you for your patience with this.
- Am I past due?
o Answer: Usually, the answer is no. The software that we use (quickbooks) automatically puts 90 days past due on statements. We bill every athlete (except for pre-comp) for the entire year’s fees, which are not due all at once, but are due according to the payment schedule in the information package. You’re passed due if you have not paid at least $700-$800 of the $1325 that is due for youth/junior/senior/open, or if you’re behind on regularly schedule pre-arranged payments. The dates on the invoice are just part of the software.
- What is the extra charge?
o Answer: In most cases, it’s not actually an extra charge, but the tax being broken out. For example, most people owe $1325 for the year’s fees. That translates to actually be $1152.17, plus $172 in HST. So the $172 isn’t extra, as the total is still correctly showing as $1325.
- When will the uniform and bow be billed?
o Answer: As per the information package, this is not included in your fees. The costs for these will be billed later in the fall. The full amount of the uniform cost must be paid in full prior to the athlete receiving her (or his) uniform.
- There is a mistake:
o Answer: Yes, in some cases, we have missed a few things and there were a few mistakes that we’ve corrected. We have worked through most of these. Some athletes have since become crossovers (or have changed their minds) and the accounts were not updated properly. We apologize for the mistakes, but have resolved most of them. Please continue to let us know if you feel there is a mistake on your account.
If you have emailed Erica with questions and she has not yet responded, please continue to be patient. As of today, she believes she responded to everyone, so if you have not heard from her, please let her know directly via firstname.lastname@example.org.
Parking Lot Safety: PLEASE slow down!!!! We have had multiple near-misses in the parking lot due to people either driving too fast or not watching where they are going, especially when reversing. PLEASE drive with care!
Update on Travel Survey: We have had the majority of respondents state that they are more interested in going to Niagara Falls instead of JamFest. Therefore, the decision is to stay in Canada and compete in Ontario on April 6-7, 2018!!! The planning group is underway, and all related activities have started! We are so excited to debut our Season 10 skills and new amazing uniforms to those across Canada that attend CHEER EVOLUTION NATIONALS!!!!
Travel Committee Meeting on Thursday, October 26 @ 6:30 pm: We are having a travel committee planning meeting on Thursday at 6:30 pm. Several Team Managers have volunteered to be part of the planning committee (note this is not a full parent meeting, but only for the planning committee members). We have won an award every time we have participates in this parade (Best Walking Group, Best Cheer/Baton Group, etc), let’s aim for a specialty award again for 2017!!!
