Congratulations to everyone on this weekend’s amazing performances by WHC. We left with MANY banners, but one of our favourite parts was watching all 200+ of our athletes doing our choreographed warm up routine during the awards ceremony!
AVCC Recap of Placements:
Motivation, Wonder, and Innovation all did amazing performances! These teams have all come a long way and it’s wonderful to see them all grow as athletes.
Brilliance: Brilliance was not eligible for a banner because we used two of our amazing CIT’s, Katie & Maren, to fill in for our two missing back spots! Katie & Maren are both over the age eligibility for youth under the USASF rules; therefore, it disqualified them from being able to place in the youth division. However, Brilliance still received scores and judges feedback, which shows that they had a higher score than their competition (Olympia)! Your coaches are excited to discuss the results with you, and you should be congratulated on some amazing scores!!
WHC also won some specialty awards:
Best Dance: Ambition
Best Tumbling: Passion
Best Stunts: Passion
Best Choreography: Charisma
WHC also won the following LEVEL champs:
Level 1 Champs: Passion
Level 3 Champs: Charisma
Level 4.2 Champs: Precision
Level 4 Champs: Love
Theme Week: This week is CHEER WAR week! Come to your last practice dressed in camo, ready for the final fight of the season!
Schedule for provincials: The schedule for provincials for WHC teams is posted on our website. https://westhalifaxcheer.com/competition-schedules/. Please be sure to check it closely for times.
Volunteer Schedule for Provincials:
We still have some unfilled spots for the volunteer schedule. Please take a look and let us know if you can offer any time. We noticed that the “recording of the competition on IPads or another tablet device” spots seem to be unfilled. We, therefore, have reduced the requirement from 4-hour shifts to just 2-hour shifts. You would have to bring your own device, or potentially some coaches have one that can be loaned, to record the competition as it happens. We would like to have 4 devices recording the competition at a time if possible. Please sign up below if you’re able help out!
The link to the sign-up page is here.
Floor moving for Provincials: We are moving our large 9-strip floor, and a tumble strip. Both floors are not going…Yay! The schedule for moving the floor to HEC this weekend is as follows.
Thursday night: After Love & Devotion are finished practices (9:30 pm), all athletes & their parents are asked to help load the floor onto the truck. When we did this for Expo – it took very little time because we had so much help. Let’s do it this way again! Anyone who is available to help, please come in and give us a hand! The truck will then go and be parked at HEC all night. I didn’t do a sign up spot for Thursday night, but please, anyone available to help please come!!
Friday: We have all day to unload and set up, but would like to get started early. For everyone who signed up on the volunteer sheet for Friday to set up of the floor – it would be wonderful if you could come in the afternoon. We realized we didn’t specify a time on the sign-up sheet, but if anyone is available any time during the day, the team is going to get started mid-morning. We will post on Facebook when it is fully set up so if you are signed up but haven’t come yet, you won’t have to help with that portion.
Sunday: Final awards are at approximately 3:30 pm. As soon as awards are over, we will be packing up our floor onto the truck (our floor is the performance floor) and the 12×42 foot tumble strip that will be in the warm-up room. We will then be moving it back to the Orange Dome. This is where many hands also make light work! Anyone (athletes included) who can help with this, we would be extremely grateful!

Blue Nose Marathon Cheering Opportunity! Our club has been asked by Adsum for Women & Children to help them with their BlueNose Marathon cheering station on Sunday, May 22, 2016 from 8:30 am – 11:30 am on Valour Way (off Barrington)
Adsum for Women & Children is hosting a Bluenose Marathon Cheering Station at Valour Way (off Barrington) on Sunday May 22 from 8:30-11:30.
The message they have sent me to share with you is:
We would love to have your cheerleaders join our staff and volunteers to help raise the cheer level and have some fun cheering on the racers. It would be great if any musicians join us as well (drums would be awesome).
All volunteers receive an event shirt, poncho, thunder sticks, cow bells and whistles. There will be media opportunities as well as you are helping Adsum to win the $500 for best Cheering Station, which will support emergency shelter, housing and programs for women, families and youth who are experiencing homelessness in this community.
We need to register all volunteers by May 5 so please have interested cheerleaders and family members follow these details to sign up in our online volunteer portal. The sign up is required prior to May 5 so that we can order, package and deliver all of the Blue Nose Boogie t-shirts and other gear to your group. You can access the website directly here: http://www.doitsports.com/volunteer2/join-protected-group.tcl?event_id=216209
Once you’ve clicked the link, select your group name in the drop-down menu. Your password is: goBNboogie16
From there, each volunteer will have to fill out his/her personal information and then click “join group” at the bottom of the page.
We told them that WHC would be honored to help cheer on the runners for such a wonderful organization. Please sign up if you’re interested!!
That’s all for now!
