Due to May 17 being on a long weekend, Wonder & Innovation had Bring a Friend Day yesterday. However, we are still offering a practice on May 17 for anyone on Wonder/Innovation who would like to attend, as a fun make up for missing several practices in April due to competitions. You can still bring a friend to this practice if you like!
Sunday, May 17
3-3:45: Tiny Wonder
4-5: Mini Innovation
After Bring a friend week – we are in our “down season” until after placements on May 31 and June 7. Once the new schedule is created, the summer practice schedule will start late June, and the fall/winter schedule will begin in September.
Year end banquet: Our Year-End Annual banquet is on May 30, from 11-1 at the Prospect Road Community Centre (2141 Prospect Rd, Hatchet Lake, NS). Please let your team mom or Caren (email@example.com) know if you’re planning to attend, if you’re bringing a guest, and if you’re bringing any food/items.
Information Package 2015-2016
I will be sending out the information package for the 2015-2016 season. Please realize that we do our best to plan out a full 11 months of cheerleading, but things sometimes change that are our of our control. What we have in the package is what we are planning for the 2015-2016 season. We included all known competition dates, although it’s unlikely every team will go to every competition. The practice schedule cannot be completed until we know how many teams we will have, and we will not know that until after placements, and even then, it could change if we divide or combine teams. Please take a read through once it’s sent, and let me know if you have any questions.
Registration for the 2015-2016 cheer season
Please take a couple of minutes and fill out the online registration form. It helps us immensely for planning purposes if we know how many attendees at placements to expect for a specific age group, and whether or not individuals are interested in crossing over to additional teams. You can register here: https://register.eventarc.com/30167/west-halifax-cheerleading-team-placements-2015-2016-season, Or go to www.westhalifaxcheer.com and click the registration link there.
Our placements are on May 31 & June 7!
We want YOUR help with advertising! We have a poster/image on FaceBook and twitter that’s been circulating. If everyone could help by sharing/posting this picture to your own profiles, or posting it in your community pages or groups, it will help spread the word that we’re gearing up for season 8! I can also email you a copy of it for printing, if you could help by distributing it in your workplaces, schools, community centres, etc. 90% of our athletes join through friends/word of mouth. We really need your help to get kids through the doors of the gym! We can use the power of social media and word of mouth to really make this the biggest season ever!
Tumbling with ELLIE BLACK & HUGH SMITH
Our March Break tumbling sessions with Halifax Olympian’s Hugh Smith & Ellie Black were cancelled due to snowstorms, and have been rescheduled for May 17. There is only space available in the Level 1 session from 6-7 pm! Go to www.westhalifaxcheer.com/tumbling for more information and to register.
The registration for summer camp is now open. Go to https://westhalifaxcheer.com/summer-camps/ for the registration information and the online links to register. You can also register per day instead of per the week (please contact Christine@westhalifaxcheer.com) for information regarding this. Our Camp Director will be Coach Alli, and our camp coaches are Coach Shannon and Coach Leah!
Coaches in Training (CIT’s) for next season: Just a reminder that if you are interested in being a CIT for next season, you need to email me, even if you’re a CIT this season. I have an excellent memory, but I will 100% forget if you just tell me in person J I have a running list of everyone who has emailed me. We may not be able to provide every single applicant with a CIT position, but you will not be given a position if you don’t email me.
I think that’s everything for this week!
